What is Real Hope up to in town?
|
Real Hope Oswego Church bought its forever home in downtown Oswego--the brick house behind the bank, on the corner of Jefferson and Jay street. We're working hard to rehab the place into an intimate meeting space for Sunday morning community and worship. This is going to take a while! We hope it can be a space for your needs, too.
We want to turn the lawn into a community garden, meditation garden, and community space, for anyone to use. We envision kids walking home from school grabbing a few strawberries for a snack. A busy person on lunch break getting a moment of peace. Someone going home from work, remembering they didn't have tomatoes for dinner, and realizing they can find a couple in this space. A family in need stocking up on fresh veggies. We see someone living in a apartment who doesn't have a yards for their kid's grad party using ours. We envision ecological gardening practices, healthy cooking lessons (the pastor is learning craft baking--so not always totally healthy!), an accessible garden, other classes the community can use, and more that we can't even imagine right now. With all that, we can't wait to gather in this space on Sundays for a community that values one another and practices both the work and the grace of loving God and neighbor. For all that to happen, we're pushing to get this project done. Since churches are always operating tightly on both time and budget, it's taking a minute. Send us an email if you're curious about our plans for this lovely corner space. |
